Smaller food items are no problem for the Viking design either, due to the lifting action levers with extra lift. A simple upward pull on the lever will bring the out of reach food item to the top of the toaster, making it easy to lift out.
Toast crumbs are handled easily with the stainless steel pull-out tray located in the bottom front of the toaster. The clean-up task is fast because of the convenient location of the tray.
